Telangana’s IIM still remains a pipedream
Mr. Rao requested Smriti Irani to sanction an IIM for the state
Hyderabad: An Indian Institute of Management (IIM) may not be a reality in Telangana soon. The government doesn’t seem upbeat about the possibilities of a new IIM in the state, as six new IIMs have been sanctioned to six different states only a while ago. CM Chandrasekhar Rao and Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari had separately requested Union HRD minister Smriti Irani to sanction an IIM for the state.
She asked the state to write to finance minister Jaitley for budgetary support. Deputy CM admitted there was no follow up. Smriti Irani had stated in a reply in the Rajya Sabha last year that the Centre would consider setting up an IIM in the state.
