Start work on Kempapura skywalk: Mayor Manjunath Reddy
Reddy said that all necessary approvals were given for the construction of a skywalk
BENGALURU: City Mayor B.N. Manjunath Reddy has directed BBMP officials to commence the work on the skywalk near Esteem Mall at Kempapura on Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) road as early as possible. He recalled the accident on February 26, when two people, including a college girl, were mowed down by a speeding truck.
During his inspection on Wednesday morning, Reddy said that all necessary approvals were given for the construction of a skywalk. He also assured that the trees located in the area would be trans-located to Yelahanka lake.
He has also directed officials to clear the encroachment of Rajakaluve near Thanisandra and desilt storm water drains at Kariyannanapalya. Remodeling of drains for smooth flow of storm water and to arrest flooding in low lying areas would be addressed soon. Residents of Puttenahalli complained about improper water supply, pothole ridden roads and non-clearance of garbage. Prahlad Urala, a resident, highlighted the plight of the Puttenahalli lake and stench emanating from it. He also pointed out that the lake was filled with weeds and hyacinth and repeated requests to rejuvenate the lake have fallen on deaf ears.
