Karnataka High Court relief to Karthik Gowda
Karnataka High Court on Wednesday extended an earlier order, by two weeks
Bengaluru: In a relief to D.S. Karthik Gowda, son of Union Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday extended an earlier order, by two weeks, staying the summons issued by a lower court against him in connection with a case accusing him of various charges including rape, kidnap and cheating.
The VIII ACMM court on September 18 had issued summons against Karthik asking him to appear in the case filed against him by a small time actress Mythriya Gowda. The R.T. Nagar Police which investigated the complaint had recently filed the charge sheet before the lower court. The police in its chargesheet had dropped the charges of rape and kidnap for lack of evidence against Karthik. However it had filed the chargesheet under IPC sec 419 which refers to punishment for cheating.
Following the filing of chargesheet and summons by the lower court, Karthik Gowda had approached the high court seeking to quash the lower court proceedings. It is learnt that Karthik Gowda’s wedding is scheduled to be held on October 30. He got engaged in 2014 and the actress had then lodged the complaint accusing him of rape and other charges.
