Fruits and vegetables a day keeps the cardiologist away
According to a research if one consumes fruits and vegetables when young then the chances of having a healthier heart increases in their old age.
Eating more of a fruits and vegetables may result into less calcified coronary artery plaque 20 years later, states a research conducted by American Heart Association.
It was noted from a research of 2,506 participants that women consumed nearly an average of nine servings of fruits and vegetables daily more as compared to males who consumed seven daily servings.
It was also noted that people who consumed more of fruits and vegetables in the beginning of the examination had 26% lesser chances of developing calcified plaque which is a disease that hardens the arteries and may give rise to many types of heart disease, 20 years later as compared to those whose consumption of fruits and vegetables was less.
“People should not consume things that are not required while they are young as they can wait to consume it as they grow older for their health betterment,” said Michael D.Miedema, the lead author of the study.
The research was published in American Heart Association Journal Circulation.
