Modi an ominous comet: AK Antony

Antony says BJP trying to impose Hitler model, terms CPM outdated
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Hitler, Congress Working Committee member A. K. Antony on Tuesday said it was dangerous to live in North India now.
The Modi government is trying to enforce a 'Hitler-model' in the country by sabotaging communal harmony, he said. It is unfortunate that what a person should eat or wear is being decided by the Sangh Parivar.
Lashing out at BJP and the CPM before kicking off his second-leg campaign in the coastal belt of the state capital, Mr Antony alleged that the CPM was outdated and prided on the Stalinist purge.
He wondered if the heavens would have fallen if the murder-accused ‘Karayi twins’ were not fielded in local elections.
“I am surprised that Karayis (are in the fray),” he said. “Why can’t the CPM leadership wait until the court verdict? They are giving out the message that come what may, they would go any length to protect the Karayis.”
He claimed that the CPM lacked mass support and had been reduced to Kerala and Tripura. He alleged that the CPM leadership was belittling the judiciary.
Turning to Mr Modi, he said the last one year of his dispensation had been nothing but ‘showmanship’ which was his marketing technique.
“Modi was not sunrise, but a dangerous comet," said Mr Antony. "People are living under constant threat. It is the BJP and Sangh Parivar that decides what to eat and what to wear. In fact, Modi announced his first year’s achievements at the RSS headquarters.”
He also alleged that the BJP/RSS combine decides what has to be written, and it was highly deplorable. He expressed anguish over similar changes happening in Kerala, known for its communal harmony. He warned that the state would also be leading to a dangerous situation then.
BJP will fall by the wayside
Describing the local polls as semi-finals before next year’s Assembly elections, A. K. Antony said BJP would lose out on the semi-finals, and the final would be between the UDF and LDF.
He also said the UDF government would buck the trend and return to power because of the development initiatives of the Chandy government and the debate on who should lead the Assembly poll campaign was unwarranted.
“The outcome of the local bodies elections should be seen as a (mandate for) continuation of the UDF. By sitting in New Delhi, I could gauge what’s happening in all the states. UDF government has excelled in all fields, and Kerala stands first among Indian states,” he said.
He also added that there was no differences on who would lead the party in the Assembly elections.
Mr Antony dismissed the reports that Muslim League – Congress relations have strained. He said the relationship dated back to more than four decades.
He said there was no harm in a reprobe into Sasawathikanda’s unnatural death when he was the chief minister. The police had come to a conclusion that it was a case of drowning. But he is all for any form of investigation to clear apprehensions.
