Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Tuesday said that the TRS candidate for the Warangal byelection would be finalised on Thursday by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He also denied that his daughter K. Kavya was in the race for the TRS ticket.
The byelection is set for November 21. The seat fell vacant after Mr Srihari resigned from the Lok Sabha to become the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
Since then, there has been talk that he was seeking the ticket for Ms Kavya.
“I am a little greedy, but not that greedy as to seek the party ticket for my daughter. There have been stories floating that she will turn to politics, but there is no truth in these stories,” Mr Srihari said.
“Our Chief Minister has called for a meeting on October 29. The candidate will be finalised in the meeting,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also dismissed any threat from the BJP-TD combine, saying that though the BJP has taken the seat as part of its seat sharing agreement with the TD, it didn’t even have a candidate yet.
