Yuvan Shankar Raja goes to Hollywood
Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja will be making his Hollywood debut with an animated feature film titled Woolfell. The project is being directed by a former VFX consultant Prabhakaran Hari Haran, the great grandson of the legendary actor MR Radha. Hari Haran had earlier worked as an assistant in the special effects department in Kamal Haasan-starrer Vishwaroopam.
He says, “Woolfell is an international political-action drama. Set in a futuristic hyperutopian time, it is an action drama that portrays the relationship between a ruler and his son that brings about an understanding of true emotions and how it cannot be disregarded no matter however ahead of the time we are.”
So, why did he rope in Yuvan for his debut flick? “I grew up listening to Raja sir’s music. According to me, he’s the best and his son really came to my mind when I was penning the script because the movie needed his background score. His music is quite lively and I have always believed in the ‘Yuvan factor’ that does magic to the films. As far as this film is concerned, music is its biggest plus,” he details.
Interestingly, Woolfell will have Kunal Rajan of Whiplash and Uttama Villain fame doing the sound designing. Hari reasons that he believes in making films for a wider audience, and hence chose not to do films here. He also feels that his scripts can’t be done here owing to the budget issue.
