Rajinikanth given grand welcome in Malaysia

A formal meeting was organised with the governor of Malacca, where the actor had high tea

Superstar Rajinikanth was given a rousing welcome by his numerous fans and the Malaysian government when he landed at the Kuala Lumpur airport on Monday for his upcoming film Kabali’s shoot. Tight security including bouncers had been arranged for the Baasha star.

He arrived at 5.45pm and was accompanied by the film’s crew, including producer Thaanu. After exchanging pleasantries with the airport authorities and posing for a few shutterbugs, Rajini left for Malacca where a shooting schedule has been planned. Seeing the huge crowd waiting outside the airport to get a glimpse of him, the Superstar cheered them waving his hands from the plush limousine car organised specially for the star.

A formal meeting was organised with the governor of Malacca, where the actor had high tea and spent time with the employees of the governor office and even took selfies with some of them. After resting for a day, the actor who enjoys a cult status in Malaysia joined the early morning 6 am shoot on Wednesday at the specially erected sets and locations in Malacca.

A unit source reveals that Rajini will be shooting along with others till November 2 in Malacca before shifting to a new location later. Director Pa Ranjith will be filming in Malaysia for a month and later shift to Bangkok and Goa to film the remaining portions.

Earlier a high-octane action sequence with 200 junior artistes and stuntmen was shot at a studio in Chennai for Kabali where Rajini plays an ageing don. The scene, which is said to appear in flashback portions, involved Rajini coming to the rescue of 200-odd men and saving them from fire in a multi-storeyed building.

Actors Ramesh and John Vijay who essay key roles were also said to be part of that crucial sequence. This will be a talked-about scene in the film, asserts an inside source.
