KOLLAM: A group of RSS activists here allegedly set ablaze the motorcycle of a youth in retaliation for his posting a picture on Facebook showing them eating beef in a restaurant at Mangad.

B. Sajan, 21, of Mangad, who  posted the picture on  October 19,  also had food in the nearby restaurant where the RSS activists allegedly ate beef.

A gang entered the premises of his house last Thursday night  and burnt his bike, according to Sajan. "My house is located in an RSS majority area and I could identify the persons who were behind the attack. But the police have not  taken any action against them," Sajan told DC.

"I saw four men fleeing from my compound when I woke up by 11.30 p.m. hearing the dog bark. I waited until 12.30 a.m. and went to sleep. I later heard my mother screaming and flames were seen through the window". Two men were seen running away and the dog was found locked inside the  kennel," he said.

According to Sajan,  the police were at first reluctant to charge any case. Mr Muhammad Khan, Kilikolloor SI, said, "we have registered a case under IPC sections 435 and 34. The mobile numbers of the suspected persons involved have been given to the cyber cell as per the statement given by the complainant," he  told DC.

A case for  destroying  property was registered. None has been arrested though the culprits have been identified by the complainant and are local residents.
