VS Achuthanandan slams Oommen Chandy for preaching secular politics

In a statement here he said the CPM had grown in the state fighting all kinds of communalism and fundamentalism

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has slammed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who plays Congress politics in the day and pursues RSS political agenda at night, for preaching secular politics to CPM.

In a statement here he said the CPM had grown in the state fighting all kinds of communalism and fundamentalism.

“When communal fire threatened to engulf Thalassery, it was the CPM which took on the hate mongers and communal forces. However, Congress tried to facilitate the entry of BJP through Congress-League-BJP model tie-up,” he said.

Achuthanandan said the Congress was adopting a soft Hindutva approach which could be gauged from UDF Government’s stand on the micro finance corruption of SNDP yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan.

“On October 7, I wrote a letter to chief minister and home minster in connection with the issue. However, till date the government had not taken any steps. The chief minister forwarded my complaint to Ramesh Chennithla who sent it to home secretary. In normal course the complaints given by me are given to the police immediately. Instead, Chandy and Chennithala were playing with my complaint,” he said.

The opposition leader said that it was clear tactics to create hurdles in his decision to move court against micro finance corruption.

He said the other day home minister had said publicly that he had not received the required evidence in connection with the micro finance corruption.

“I have no idea whether the incidents that took place in Adoor , Thrissur and Kasargod related to the corruption and the action taken by police in some place came to his notice,” he asked Achuthanandan alleged that
