Campaigns to be held through posters, counselling
Visakhapatnam: Following directions by the Central Vigilance Commission, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway launched the Vigilance Awareness Week on Monday. Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair division, Chandralekha Mukherjee, said coincidentally, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel (October 31) too falls during this week.
“Patel, The Iron Man of India, is credited with setting up the administrative structure of Government of India after Independence.” The objective of the Vigilance Awareness Week is to alert both public and government employees about corruption, through participatory and pro-active methods,” she said.
The theme for the current year’s Vigilance Awareness Week is “Preventive vigilance as a tool of good governance”. Senior.divisional commercial manager M. Yelvender Yadav said the vigilance wing will organise programmes during the week to create awareness against dishonesty, misconduct and to bring about improvement in the system through use of technology. Employees of all the departments of railways took a pledge to eliminate corruption in the system and it was administered by the DRM.
“Several programmes like quiz contests, skits, presentation of case studies and discussions will be organised during the week. Special campaigns through posters and counselling will also be undertaken during the week,” added Ms. Mukherjee.
