Telangana legalises killing of wild boars
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has legalised the killing of wild boar.
In a meeting with officials of the forest department, environment and forest minister Jogu Ramanna said on Monday, that farmers were facing tough times, and they should be protected against wild boars attacking their crops.
He said no case should be booked by the forest department if a wild boar destroying agricultural crop is killed. Wild boar is a Schedule-III protected species under Wildlife Protection Act.
The minister sanctioned Rs 55 lakh for catching monkeys to solve the monkey menace. He said teams of trained monkey catchers will be formed for the purpose.
He said a joint survey of land should be conducted by forest and revenue departments as there is confusion over ownership of some lands between both departments.
