SNDP tieup just local: BJP
Kollam: The BJP has no an alliance with the SNDP at the state level but an agreement on seat sharing at the local level, BJP state president V. Muraleedharan said on Monday.
“Vellappally Natesan when paid a visit to the BJP national president Amit Shah and discussed the contemporary political situation in Kerala,” he told reporters at the Press Club here. “It was the BJP perception too. So it led to a common political space.”
On considering the SNDP as an ally of BJP, Mr Muraleedharan said the party forged alliances with political parties and it would consider the idea only when it came up with a political outfit.
“In some places, the SNDP candidates are contesting on the BJP symbol this time,” he said.
He also said the NSS had not yet made any evaluation of the present political scenario in Kerala where the majority community, including Nairs, was neglected by both the fronts.
“They should also come forward to raise their voice after understanding the reality like the SNDP did,” he said. This “political scenario evolved” after both fronts “protected organised vote banks” and neglected “the majority”.
On the unanimous victory of CPM in Anthoor Municipality in Kannur, Mr. Muraleedharan said there existed an understanding between the IUML and the CPM that Anthoor was given to CPM and League took Taliparamba.
The Congress could not file nominations in Anthoor without the IUML's permission. “K. Sudhakaran has demanded deployment of central forces in the area to hide this embarrassment,” he said.
“The CPM leaders' notion that the IUML is not communal is only in support of their temporary political interests”.
He alleged that the Congress and the Communist parties had fielded ‘common candidates’ in Palakkad and Kottakkal municipalities against the BJP.
