Leaders’ security cut, TDP vows to fight
Hyderabad: TS Telugu Desam leaders have objected to the decision of the police department to scale down security to party president L. Ramana and Legislature Party leader Erraballi Dayakar Rao and vowed to fight it out till their security is restored.
TD politburo member and former MP Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy on Monday said the police department appears to have unilaterally decided to scale down the security of these leaders since they have been critical of the state government’s failures to keep it promises.
Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy said that Mr Ramana, a former minister and former MP, had received a letter from the police department, informing him that his 1+1 security was being removed.
Similarly, the 1+3 security of Mr Dayakar Rao, a five-time MLA, was withdrawn and he is presently left with one gunman.
“This is nothing but a witch-hunt by the TRS government. On the one hand, they have provided security to several defeated candidates of TRS and their relatives and industrialists, while on the other, they have decided to scale down the security of TD leaders, who have been facing threats from TRS leaders who fear their misdeeds will be exposed,” Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy said.
