Chandrababu Naidu targets 14 per cent growth

Mr Naidu directed the officials to integrate the expenditure plans for 147 departments

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed the officials of finance department to take steps to achieve the last year’s balance of Rs 12,000 crore revenue deficit. In a review meeting with finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and finance secretary P.V. Ramesh at his camp office, the CM instructed officials to reimburse Rs 2,030 crore which was already spent for Polavaram Project.
In the meeting it was decided to float budget expenditure management committee for regulating the expenditure in all departments and registering a rapid growth rate. Government adviser C.S. Rao and four financial experts would comprise the committee.
Besides, Mr Naidu directed the officials to integrate the expenditure plans for 147 departments over the period of next four years. The departments should explore the possibilities of income generation, benchmarks and sources of funds from central government, he added.
Finance minister Y. Ramakrishnudu said that it was for the first time in the history that the state government had initiated budget process six months in advance. The department would be ready for the budget session by Jan. from taking assessments from units.
Mr Naidu directed the officials to take steps to meet 14 per cent growth rate. Development works like capital construction, ports, national highways and IT companies establishment are active in the state, he added.
