UDF manifesto promises master plan, seva grams

KOZHIKODE: Promising good governance and a developed city, the UDF released their manifesto for the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation elections at a function held at League House in the City on Sunday.
The manifesto assures the creating of a master plan for comprehensive development of the City, implementation of Light Metro project and introduction of Wi-Fi and Seva Gram in all wards.
The UDF also promises a permanent solution for stray dog menace, zero waste city and free drinking water projects for the City dwellers.
Speaking during the release function, UDF leaders said that the people were fed up with the four decade-long LDF misrule and were looking for a change.
The UDF also assured the creaton of a Mayor’s contingency fund on the lines of the Chief Minister’s contingency fund and also introducing scholarships for financially backward students for their higher studies.
One of the noted promises in the manifesto is creation of seva gram. The UDF claimed that the concept of seva gramam is a new one being implemented in the state for the first time.
“The Seva Gramam concept will make sure all councilors in the Corporation conduct an interaction programme with the ward residents on a regular basis,” the manifesto said.
A facebook page in connection with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s ‘Janakeeya Samvadam’ at Kozhikode was inaugurated by MP M.K Raghavan during the function.
UDF District Chairman Adv P Shankaran, DCC President, K.C Abu, Muslim League District President Ummer Pandikasala took part in the release function.
