Rs 5 crore for govt mobile app project

As many as 150 services, including payment services, would be offered in the initial phase
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the ambitious project of launching a mobile app that offer all government-related services.
The Kerala State IT Mission mooted the Mobile Governance Infrastructure project and the process for selecting the private partner for the project is progressing. But a final decision would be taken only after the ongoing elections.
Of the Rs 5 crore sanctioned for the project, Rs 1.9 crore has been earmarked for mobile phone application development, security and authentication, transaction management and related activities.
Rs 1.25 crore was earmarked for hardware infrastructure for mobilegovernance platform services and mobile app and Rs 1.5 crore mobile platform integration and related activities. The IT Mission is targeting to launch the mobile app by December.
As many as 150 services, including payment services, would be offered in the initial phase. The app would be compatible with Android, iOS,Windows and Blackberry platforms. All existing mobile services of various government departments would be linked to this app so that it would serve as a single window to all mobile governance services of the government.
IT Mission sources said that other services like mobile recharge, train ticket booking, Income Tax and popular services by private parties that are of much use to the public could also be integrated with the app.
