Poll code defers housing in Warangal
Warangal: The 2BHK houses for the poor announced by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his visit to Warangal in January this year is yet to materialise. The construction of the 2 BHK houses was set to be begin on October 22. But with the election model code of conduct coming in just the day before, the works are further delayed. Minister T. Harish Rao and Kadiam Srihari were scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the houses at Kataksha-puram village in Atmakur mandal.
Earlier, the government issued orders for construction of 1,384 double bedroom houses in Warangal. Collector Vakati Karuna also announced the approval of the DPR for the construction of 792 houses in SR Nagar and 592 houses in Ambed-karnagar colonies.
The houses were planned to be built in a plinth area of 565 sq.ft. in 942 blocks with 4 houses in each block including the ground floor and the first floor in each block and another 40 houses in a plinth area of 599 sq.ft. in 10 blocks with four houses in each block. Each house unit will have two bedrooms, a kitchen, two toilets and a common hall. Each house cost Rs 5.04 lakh at Rs 900 per sqft.
