Parents angry as Telangana is yet to act on school panel reports
Hyderabad: There has been no action even almost two months after a committee appointed by the Telangana State Education ministry submitted its report on the financial aspects of 12 private schools in the backdrop of allegations that their fees had been hiked unfairly.
The lack of enthusiasm from the government to follow up on the report as also its reluctance to make the details public is hurting parents.
With admissions for the next academic year slated to begin in November, parents are demanding that the report be made public immediately or that the government take action on the report. The deadline to submit the report, which covered 12 schools, was August 31.
Executive committee member of Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) Ashish Naredi said, “The reason for so much secrecy is difficult to understand. It gives rise to suspicions of a coverup. As it is, we have expressed serious reservations about multiple aspects of the investigation. We demand that the report be made public immediately.”
While some of the schools are promoted by politicians, officials have denied any political pressure to go soft on them.
“It will be submitted to the government in the next two to three days,” a senior official said.
