LDF leader for poll undecided: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

Mr Balakrishnan said that the CPM would never tie-up with the Muslim League
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that a decision on who would lead the CPM in the assembly polls would be taken later.
Mr Balakrishnan made his stand clear after CPI national secretariat member C Divakaran made a statement that he thought Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan was best suited to lead the LDF in the next assembly elections.
Mr Divakaran has himself explained his statement on opposition leader V S Achuthanandan leading the party later. “This was not the time for a discussion on it”, Mr Balakrishan told reporters here on Sunday.
Mr Balakrishnan said that the CPM would never tie-up with the Muslim League. The allegations are being propagated on the CPM –League tie-up as part of an effort to hide the relationship between the RSS and the UDF, Mr Balakrishnan said.
CPI leaders also dismissed the statement of Mr Divakaran on Achuthanandan leading the elections. It is true that Mr Achuthanandan is the tallest leader of the LDF now, CPI leader Pannyan Raveendran said.
However, the decision on who would lead the coalition would be decided later, Mr Raveendran said. CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran also said that it was Mr Divakaran’s personal opinion. The CPI had not discussed the issue, Mr Rajendran added.
