Kannur University to discuss land issue with Railways
The Registrar recently visited the Southern Railways General Manager at Chennai to raise the issue
Kannur: Kannur University will hold a meeting with railway authorities and revenue department officials on issues pertaining to land sharing between the University and the Railways which has not been demarcated.
Since the area was not marked, the varsity was not able to construct a compound wall and it was posing a serious security and hygiene threat for the varsity headquarters at Thavakkara.
The Registrar recently visited the Southern Railways General Manager at Chennai to raise the issue.
“The Railway authorities responded positively and they asked us to fix a date for the meeting with the Revenue department officials. During the time of handing over of land to the varsity, the land sharing between the railways and the university was not clearly demarcated and hence we were not able to construct a wall,” said Kannur University Registrar Dr Balachandran Keezhoth.
“Because of this open entry, the University headquarters compound has literally been turned into a littering ground and also we are facing a security threat from anti-social elements,” said Kannur University Registrar Dr Balachandran Keezhoth.
Meanwhile, the National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC) of the UGC may not visit Kannur University during October.
