Vijayawada: Stressing the need for crime prevention and effective maintenance of law and order in the state, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday asked the senior police officials to submit the track record of the last five years of every police officer at different levels.
In a review meeting with top officials, Mr Naidu said that the exercise has to be completed by March 2016 so that the effectiveness of officers in controlling crime and conviction rate achieved by assistant public prosecutors is analysed and further decisions can be taken to strengthen the department.
The Chief Minister directed the senior police functionaries that the state should achieve the distinction of peaceful and no-crime state by dealing firmly with the offenders.
Mr Naidu also ordered the department to initiate process for recruitment of persons wherever necessary depending on the requirement. Emphasis-ing the need for using technology, Mr Naidu asked officials to procure software which would enable tracking the movement and activities of criminals in the state by registering their fingerprints, iris and facial features and storing them in the servers connected to the CCTV networks placed at important business centres
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to ensure that all cities are kept clean by avoiding wall paintings or pasting posters.
Mr Naidu also called for uniform markings on roads and traffic junctions, dividers with a greenery carpet to create an ecosystem for law-abiding practices among the citizens.
Speaking about Red Sanders smuggling, Mr Naidu cautioned the officials to be more alert and asked for amendment to the Forest Act, 1967.
