Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll: Digvijay Singh shortlists four names for Congress candidate
Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will go to New Delhi on October 27 with a list of party aspirants for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll and the AICC would likely announce the name of the nominee the next day after which filing of nomination papers begins for the seat.
According to insiders, Congress leader Digvijay Singh had shortlisted four names during his visit to Warangal on October 19: Pedapalli MP G. Vivek, former Malkajagiri MP Sarve Satyana-rayana, Mr Rachava-rapu Pratap, who lost the Station Ghanpur Assembly seat election, and former Warangal MP S. Rajaiah, who lost in the 2014 election.
Though Mr Vivek had announced he would not contest, Mr Singh appears to have pressurised him to reconsider. However to gather more names, AICC SC/ST cell convener Koppula Raju, a former IAS official, will be visiting Warangal on October 26 and submit a list to AICC.
