Revathi Pattathanam to be held tomorrow

Traditionally a seven-day event, the Revathi Pattathanam used to be held under the patronage of the Zamorin of Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: Revathi Pattathanam, the annual assembly of scholars that has a history of many hundreds of years, will be held at Zamorin's Guruvayoorappan Hall near Tali Mahakshetram in Kozhikode on Monday.

The programme will start with the ritual of the Zamorin of Kozhikode K.C Unni Anujan Raja conferring a purse to a scholar nominated by the Kudalloor Namboodirippadu.

Devaswom Minister V.S Sivakumar will inaugurate the programme. Former Kerala Kalamandalam vice chancellor Dr K.G Paulose will be conferred with the Manorama Thamburatti Award by the Zamorin during the inaugural function. Sringeri Mutt Chief Administrative Officer Dr V.R Gowri Shanker will be the chief guest.

During the valedictory function, the Zamorin will confer the Krishnageethi Award to noted poet Melur Vasudevan for his anthology of poems 'Mazhayil' and Kshethra Kalakara Award to Chandrashekharan. Tourism Minister A.P Anil Kumar will be the chief guest during the valedictory function.
