Kerala: Organs of brain dead cop donated
To fulfill his long cherished desire, his family gave consent to donate organs

Kochi: In what was applauded as a model gesture, the Additional Sub Inspector of the Eranakulam Central Police Station donated his organs – after his bereaved family consented - soon after he was declared brain dead at Amrita Hospital on Friday night.
Senior police officer M.V. George (55) of Malayil House at Vadavukodu in Eranakulam was a benevolent person and he had expressed to his family about his desire to donate his organs after death to give others a new lease of life. To fulfill his long cherished desire, his family gave consent to donate organs.
He was admitted at a private hospital in Kolanchery on Sunday night with a stroke and later transferred to Amrita Hospital after his condition turned critical.
He was on duty till Sunday evening and it was after reaching home that he suffered a stroke. On Friday 11 pm he was declared brain dead by the hospital and his parents expressed their willingness to donate his organs.
The transplant was carried out by Saturday morning, with A Malappuram resident receiving his liver while his eyes have been preserved at the Eye Bank of the Amrita Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Lali George, son Jerin George and daughter Jereena George. Cremation will take place at St George Church in Cherukothukunnu.
