BJP state chief V Muraleedharan faces flak from seniors
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state BJP is a party divided against itself with top leaders attacking state president V. Muraleedharan for his contemptuous remarks against former leaders P. P. Mukundan and K. Raman Pillai.
Mr Muraleedharan had asked them to send a missed call to take membership of the party again. The row has displeased the central BJP-RSS leadership also which had asked the state leaders to work unitedly for the local body elections.
Close on the heels of senior BJP leader P. S. Sreedharan Pillai expressing his displeasure against Mr Muraleedharan's comment, Mr Raman Pillai also came out flaying his ‘aggressive language.’
Ever since Mr. Pillai had left the BJP and formed Janapaksham, he has been keeping a low profile. He said on Saturday that he was not interested in a comeback when it was being led by Mr Muraleedharan.
“His missed call remark is condemnable. It is surprising to see that Muraleedharan, who temporarily assumed charge as state chief, continues to occupy it for the last six years. It is clear that he bagged the post through unlawful means,” said Mr. Pillai.
Mr Sreedharan Pillai said that talks should be initiated to bring back Mr Mukundan to the BJP. BJP national executive member Sobha Surendran told reporters in Kannur that whoever joins the BJP would benefit the party.
RSS state secretary and Prantha Karyavahak P. Gopalankutty Master told DC that this was not the apt time to make issues when the local body elections were round the corner.
“The RSS state leadership has not been informed of Mr Mukundan’s wish to come back to the party. In fact, neither Mr Mukundan nor Mr Muraleedharan has told us about it. The issue of Mr Mukundan’s comeback is not something to be discussed in public or with the media. It has to be discussed with top BJP leaders,” said Gopalankutty Master.
