A special team has been formed to trace the miscreants
BENGALURU: In a daring robbery, a gang of three armed men brandishing knives entered a small jewellery store, tied the hands of the staff members and robbed them of gold and diamond ornaments worth several lakhs and cash amounting to Rs 30,000 on Friday evening.
The incident is said to have taken place around 7.30 pm opposite TTMC on the service road in Vijayanagar police station limits. In the well planned robbery, an unidentified person walked into the My Kalyan, a small diamond and gold store, on the pretext of buying a gold chain. When the jewellery staff reportedly got busy in showing the jewellery, two people entered the shop brandishing knives and threatened to kill Venugopal, one of the sales staff, if he tried to raise an alarm.
The gang members then tied Venugopal’s hands and locked him in a small room, while the other two began collecting gold and diamond jewels, revealed investigations. The police said that the gang members then dumped all the gold and diamond ornaments into a bag along with the computer and fled the spot. The robbery came to light after Venugopal managed to untie himself and informed his managers, who rushed to the spot and alerted the police.
A team of police who along with dog squad rushed to the crime spot and examined the shop. “The thieves were smart enough to take the computer so that the police would not be able to access the CCTV footage. However, we have gathered the video footage while a team of forensic experts have also collected vital clues from the spot and initiated an inquest into the matter. A special team has been formed to trace the miscreants,” said an officer. A case has been registered in Vijayanagar police station in the connection and probe is underway.
