On a stress free road to fitness

Parineeti Chopra has figured out her own way to stay fit and it doesn’t involve any kind of self-torture. the results are slow and steady — but there for all to see...

Parineeti Chopra is a classic case of what bad choices can do to you. At one time, she was seen as this powerhouse of talent. She had wowed everyone with her performances in Ishaqzaade and Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. The latter did not fare very well, but Pari was noticed. Shudh Desi Romance added one more feather to her cap, but soon after her career took a nosedive with the consecutive flops of Kill Dil and Daawat-e-Ishq. The actress who was very much in reckoning at one time, now seems to be left with very few friends in the industry. Neither the studio that gave her her big break, nor the other biggies who worked with her in the past appear to be willing to support her any longer.

But Parineeti is a fighter. She decided to grab the bull by its horns, one step at a time. First off, she focussed all her energy on getting in shape and shedding those extra pounds.

This, while she also moved into her new home, which has been a long-cherished dream. Her recent photos testify that she has very well accomplished the first task she had set out to do. Pari, who once had to ward off a lot of negative remarks about her weight, is looking stunning these days. When we caught up with her recently, we asked her to part with a few fitness tips and the actress very willingly obliged. We bring you some precious pointers:

Morning routine: I have become health conscious like never before. I drink lukewarm water in morning soon after I wake up. It’s such a simple routine to follow but I had never done it before. Sometimes I take it with honey too. Then I wait for sometime before having my breakfast. Right now I am living out of a suitcase. I have recently moved into a new house, which was my dream, and I am getting everything done from scratch. So there is a lot of work happening in the house, even as we speak.

Breakfast: I am not fussy about breakfast but yes that’s my largest meal of the day. I usually prefer a South Indian breakfast — like idlis or plain dosa. Other times I prefer poha. I am not a beverage person so I don’t take tea, coffee or juice. I only take food and water.
Lunch:

I don’t have a fixed menu for lunch, and now that I have moved to Bandra, they have some amazing salad places around. So I order salad very frequently. I have grilled chicken at times, or if I eat pasta then I balance it with my other meals throughout the day. For instance, if I feel like having a pizza for lunch, I don’t control that urge. I will eat it but will balance it with other meals and exercises. I eat till I am full.

I may lose weight slower as compared to others, but I do. I am not fussy about food at all. There are so many people around me who torture themselves, but I cannot do that. I eat in small portions whenever I am hungry and I balance it all out. Evening snacks: I don’t feel really hungry in evenings usually. If I do I try to take something healthy in marginal portions.

Dinner: Again nothing specific in the night. I like chicken and I don’t eat much of seafood. Sometimes I have Indian food too, like simple dal-roti. Rice doesn’t really suit my body, I am more of a chapati person. I try to keep things as healthy as possible. Food rules: The only rule I follow is to have dinner before 8 pm. After that I don’t eat anything. I never binge at night.

Fitness mantra: I have never been a gym person, but I have discovered Kalaripayattu now and I am loving it. It’s a combination of yoga, martial arts and animal forms. You can be a bull or a deer. I have a trainer and I practice for an hour everyday. Sometimes I practice in evenings too.

Tips for others: Dieting is something that doesn’t work for me. If I want to have a chocolate, I do and then I balance it out. Some people go mad and go to extremes with leaves and broccoli. I feel, if you want to have tasty food, you should have it. Take it slow; eat what you feel like and then exercise. Try to keeps things healthy. I am taking it slowly and I am loving process.
