Mumbai: Chinese electronics and smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on a new 3D touch like technology for incorporating pressure sensitive displays on its upcomping devices.
According to a report published by GforGames, which quotes a well-known Chinese tipster on Weibo, points out Xiaomi have patented a force touch technology similar to Apple’s 3D touch.
However, the report does not reveal any further details about the speculation. Xiaomi may design a new force-touch technology from scratch or it may partner with Synaptics and utilize the company’s ‘ClearForce’ technology. Both the companies have worked previously while developing the Mi4c, which uses Synaptics’ Clear Pad S3708 capacitive touch controller.
Recent rumours also indicate that Korean tech giant Samsung is also planning to incorporate a similar force-touch feature with the upcoming Galaxy S7, but it still remains blurred whether Samsung will use its own-patented technology or team up with Synaptics.
