Vedas strengthen body, purify mind: Justice Kurian Joseph

Justice Joseph also that Sree Sankaracharya popularised the Sanskrit language and vedas and took them to the masses

THRISSUR: The discipline and daily routine followed by those associated with Brahmaswam Mutt have helped them to develop a better insight and attitude towards life, Supreme Court Judge Justice Kurian Joseph said.

Speaking after inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Vadakke Brahmaswam Matt Vidyarthi Sangam at Thrissur on Friday, he said that all those who were closely associated with the vedas by regularly reciting them were able to develop a healthy and sublime lifestyle.

“They are not prone to disease and there is little tendency among such people to get involved in crimes. Chanting of vedas strengthens the body and purifies the mind,” he said.

Brahmaswam Mutt, a traditional Vedic Institution at Thrissur, Kerala has been imparting rigvedic studies for the past hundreds of years and it is one of the most ancient institutions in India.

Justice Joseph also that Sree Sankaracharya popularised the Sanskrit language and vedas and took them to the masses. Children learning vedas possess a better attitude towards life and society, he added.

Poet Akkitham was the chief guest at the event. M.C. Dileepkumar, vice-chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady presided over the function.
