Telangana government to extend help to AP in construction of Amaravati

KCR holds back decision of giving Rs 25 crore for Amaravati as PM didn’t announce package

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to announce Rs 25 crore for the construction of AP’s new capital Amaravati on behalf of the Telangana government.

Mr Rao was apparently ready to announce the financial assistance at Thursday’s foundation stone-laying ceremony at Amaravati. He even discussed this with his officials.

He wanted to make the announce after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's much-awaited announcement of a special package for AP. Since Mr Modi did not announce any sops, Mr Rao held himself back, sources said.

Later Mr Rao told some senior Telangana officials that he would announce the assistance on some other occasion. At the ceremony, he merely said that the Telangana government would extend help to AP in the construction of the capital.
