Kochouseph moots vote for those who’ll cage stray dogs
KOCHI: Businessman Kochouseph Chittilappally, spearheading an agitation against the street dog menace, has called upon people to vote only for candidates giving an assurance that they would put all street dogs in cages.
Mr. Chittilappally, observing a one-day fast against street dogs on Sunday at Marine Drive, called for political parties to make their views clear on the matter.
“Political parties have not made their views on the matter despite the government foisting a case against me for speaking up to put an end to the street dog menace”.
The billionaire businessman also said Mrs Gouri Mualkehi, claiming that she was the private secretary of Union Minister for Woman and Child Development Maneka Gandhi, “has threatened me and asked me to stop activities against street dogs”.
Mr. Chittilappally has also claimed that panchayat officials in Aayavana had given permission to OM Joy an activist against stray dogs to capture street dogs before cancelling it.
The Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council meanwhile has extended its support to the one-day strike by Mr. Chittilappally.
“We are endorsing the strike fully”, T. Rangadasa Prabhu, president of EDRAAC told Deccan Chronicle on Friday. “We have already conveyed to the members of our association that at least two persons should be sent to the venue as a mark of solidarity with the strike,” he said.
