His letter has been sent to the joint secretary for “necessary action”

Hyderabad: An autorickshaw driver from the city was pleasantly surprised recently when he received a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office informing him that a letter he had written to the PM on relaxing a rule in the Central Motor Vehicle Act had been forwarded to the secretary of ministry of road transport and highways.
On Friday, he received another letter, this time from the office of the minister of transport, highways and shipping, informing him that his letter has been sent to the joint secretary for “necessary action”.
The auto driver, A. Sathi Reddy, who is also general secretary of the Telangana Auto Drivers Samakhya, wanted an amendment to the Central Motor Vehicle Act that mandates that one should be at least Class VIII pass to apply for a driving license for a transport vehicle, changed.
He said, “Driving autos is a lucrative option in Hyderabad for many less educated or illiterate youth who come to the city in search of livelihood. However, many do not possess Class VIII-level education and are rendered ineligible to drive autos. I wrote the letter to the PM asking for relaxation in the rule in Telangana as it would greatly help many youth.”
