Andhra Pradesh faces raw deal again, complain political leaders

Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra were announced Rs 100 crore

Anantapur: Raw deal again for Raya-laseema region as the Prime Minister did not announce any package during the function held at Amaravathi, the proposed state capital area, on Thursday. Pro-Rayalase-ema organisations and political party leaders were angry over the PM's visit to both Amaravathi and Tirupati, but failed to spell on pending packages similar to Bundelk-hand. Despite, the PM saying that reorganisation act would be implemented and no package announced.

In fact, each district of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra were announced Rs 100 crore by the Centre few weeks ago and received only Rs 50 crore as part of package so far. The co-llectors of respective districts were asked to prepare proposals to improve agriculture sector in the programme.

"The package was aimed to achieve double digit progress of agriculture and allied wings like horticulture and sericulture. Presently, growth was confined to single digit with poor progress in many sectors," an official revealed.

The chief planning officers (CPOs) of districts of both backward regions were entrusted to prepare an action plan for the sanctioned Rs 100 crore to each district. The CPOs were asked to concentrate on improving mechanisation, new techniques to overcome losses in agriculture, horticulture and sericulture.

Plans would be prepared for each wing separately considering present situation of production and market facilities. The authorities feel the smaller amount was not at all useful to tackle situation.

"We have a pending project - Project Ananta - with an estimated Rs 6,767 crore, which is still pending with the Centre that was sanctioned during UPA government." A book was released during Congre-ss regime and it was kept asi-de, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy said and added the Rs 100 crore package was an eyewash.
