Man who blackmailed girls of jobs arrested
He lured his victims by projecting himself as an educational consultant
Hyderabad: A suspended manager of the Food Corporation of India, who allegedly exploited several girl students by blackmailing or sexually harassing them, has been arrested. Kalakanda Madhu, 33, a native of Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district, had lured his victims by projecting himself as an educational consultant.
Citing his modus operandi, police said the man had downloaded contact details of over 5,000 girl students and contacted them one by one. Madhu also used to send post cards to the house of victims with his mobile number wishing them happy birth day.
“Madhu got details of girls from Internet database. He approached an Internet centre at Kothapet and downloaded the profiles of girls newly admitted to Intermediate courses or those who had applied for SSC advanced supplementary exams. He also collected details of girl students who took PG entrance exams and OUCET-2015. He then made a log in his computer and started calling them by using various SIM cards,” said Ranjan Ratan Kumar, additional DCP, CCS.
After talking to them over phone regarding educational and job opportunities, he would call them to his room, telling them it was his office. “If the victims are ready to go with him, he would take them to his rented flat at Bandlaguda in Nagole. “If a victim objects to his act, he will stop it. But once the victim leaves the place, he will call her and blackmail her. He would warn her that he has her photographs,” said the officer.
“In his log, he mentioned the contacts of those who refused to oblige him as ‘waste’. Girls who questioned him and scolded him over phone had their numbers mentioned under the head, “danger”, and they were never contacted again.
Madhu took the rented flat at a deserted place so that no locals would take note of his offence. He used another house in Sai Nagar Colony as his regular residence. He has been with FCI since 2007, was involved in similar cases in the past too, and got suspended from the service, police said.
