And it’s a dog’s day out
Around 300 dogs took part in the annual All Breed Championship Dog Show organised by the Andhra Pradesh Kennel Club at the Muffakam Jah College on Saturday.
Apart from the regular German shepherds and labradors, the 100th edition of the dog show saw numerous exotic breeds such as huskies, terriers, poodles, hounds, and Shih-Tzus. There were also a few rare breeds like Australian Shepherd, Field Spaniel, and Japanese Akita.
Kishore Reddy, the organiser, said, “Out of the 300, eight dogs will be awarded the ‘Best in Show’ and ‘reserve Best in Show’ titles. We have 40 different dog breeds coming in from different cities of India — both professionally trained and domestic ones.”
One of the country’s oldest, the Andhra Pradesh Kennel Club, has been organising dog shows for the last 65 years with the motive of promoting pure bred dogs and pet keeping.
