The ravishing super mom
There is no dearth of opportunities in this world to fulfil everyone’s deepest desire
There is no dearth of opportunities in this world to fulfil everyone’s deepest desire but triumph comes to those who recognise an opportunity and grab it with both hands. A casual look at a contest posted on a social page had Kochi-based Sajani Pallath deciding to give a shot to a long-held desire — to walk the ramp.
The contest was the first-ever Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic Competition in Mumbai, judged by prominent personalities, including brand ambassador Kareena Kapoor, in which Sajani was crowned the second runner-up.
A software engineer at the Infopark, Sajani speaks about how she became a part of the contest. “I saw the ad in their Facebook page and thought it very interesting as there were no barriers of age, height or weight. The lack of constraints and the fact that the contest was all about promoting Indian culture really piqued my interest,” she says.
The road to the final contest was not easy; there were 50,000 entries and Sajani had to go through district, state and finally a South zone contest before 10 contestants were selected from 10 different states. The venue was Mumbai and the judges were experts like Shaina N.C., Archana Kochhar and Dorris Godambe.
Sajani talks about the contest. “We had a lot of sub contests and there were contestants who had also participated in the Miss and Mrs India platforms. We had four days of grooming and also had a talent round where I presented a fusion of Thiruvathira and Mohiniyattom.” Yes, Sajani is also a classical dancer learning dance for the past 16 years and is still continuing it.
Stating that the grooming sessions ensured that she was not nervous, Sajani says: “In fact, all of us were enjoying the grooming sessions and what they taught us at those sessions will remain with us throughout our lives. “
Sajani has earlier modelled for an ethnic jewellery brand. The support of her family is what Sajani considers the most valuable. Married and a mother of two, she says: “Though it was my passion that made me try out the contest, it was my family’s support that really encouraged me. I am a person who will pursue my dream to its fruition and this was one such dream. We have only one life and it is important to pursue your passions.”
Sajani mentions that she would not hesitate to act in films if good offers come, but also wants to balance her job and passion.
