Bananas may be the answer to curing AIDS according to a major breakthrough in the field of medicine. Scientists have claimed that they have created a ‘wonder drug’ out of bananas that can destroy a wide range of viruses, like hepatitis C, flu and even AIDS.
The key ingredient of this miracle drug is actually a protein found in bananas called banana lectin or ‘BanLec’. After it was first discovered five years ago, it is now being seriously considered as a potential AIDS treatment as its nasty side effects have been effectively dealt with by scientists, according to the Daily Mail.
This new version of BanLec which can fight viruses in mice will not cause unwanted irritation and inflammation. The researchers are hopeful that this new drug may even be helpful for curing Ebola because all of these viruses are covered in similar sugar molecules that BanLec attaches itself to.
