Works go on in full swing

City mayor Koneru Sridhar supervised the works in the afternoon and asked workers to speed up the process
Vijayawada: With the grand Amaravati ceremony hours away, streets and National Highways in Vijayawada are almost decked up to welcome the guests, but the hectic last minute works are still going on.
The works related to setting up lights on the Chennai-Kolakata National Highway were underway on Wednesday and as many as six proclainers along with two concrete mixers were working on the NH.
City mayor Koneru Sridhar supervised the works in the afternoon and asked workers to speed up the process. All the VIPs and other guests visiting the ceremony, coming all the way through air, would have to take the NH to reach the ceremony and people from Godavari districts and North Andhra too have to travel on the same road. Though officials have put in all efforts to complete the works, additional works like setting up gardens on both sides of the roads reportedly caused the delay. Road expansion works in city have been halted temporarily.
