Watch: Makeup trends throughout history
Have your ever wondered what makeup looked like a hundred years ago? Like the time when anti-wrinkle creams, botox, concealers and Kim Kadarshian-style contouring techniques were not the norm? Well, Lisa Elridge, a UK based makeup artist and beauty expert, recently did a video which shows the dramatic transformation of makeup trends throughout the course of history.
She explains viewers about how Egyptian makeup was something that was worn daily by men and women while on the other hand, in ancient Greece, the male elite disapproved of women wearing makeup altogether. You’ll be surprised to know most coveted foundation in the 16th century, Venetian Ceruse, was so toxic that it would even damage the skin of the wearer.
Towards the end of the clip, she signs off that today in most parts of the world; people are no more subjected to any kind of censorship when it comes to makeup.
