Stop being stubborn, Kejriwal tells Modi
Hand over Delhi police, ACB to AAP government: CM
New Delhi: Latching onto a new survey’s findings on corruption in Delhi Police, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday stepped up attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he should “stop being stubborn” and hand over police and Anti-Corruption Branch to AAP government.
In a series of tweets, Mr Kejriwal claimed the survey findings raised questions on Modi’s “capabilities and intentions” while they had shown that corruption has come down in Delhi government, which “proved” AAP government’s intentions and administration capability.
“Shocking findings CMS survey 2day-Del police (under Modiji n his LG) most corrupt- scathing attack on Modiji’s capabilities n intentions (sic). “Second finding — corruption has come down in delhi govt — it proves AAP govt’s neeyat n admn capability. “Modiji stop being stubborn, work with us. Hand over ACB and police to Delhi government. We will deliver in a year,” he tweeted.
According to media reports, the study conducted by Centre for Media Studies — India Corruption Study 2015, shows 45 per cent of residents surveyed found reduction in corruption across departments of Delhi government vis-a-vis those of Central government. Close to a third of Delhi residents reportedly paid bribe at least once in last one year. The survey finding reportedly say that the Delhi Police is the “most corrupt” public service department in Delhi. The CM has been demanding that the Centre hand over control of Delhi Police to the APP government.
Aap slams congress roping kids for stir:
Congress workers along with scores of children on Tuesday staged a protest outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence here on the issue of women’s safety, but the move was slammed by BJP and AAP as they accused the party of using children to reap political gains.
The protest by Congress’s Mahila Morcha came against the backdrop of the rape of a 2.5 yr-old and five-year-old girl in the national capital last week. “Kejriwal has failed to fulfil his promises of making Delhi safe for women. He promised to install CCTV cameras and depute guards on every bus, but nothing has been done till date,” Congress leader and former Delhi commission for women chief Barkha Shukla said.
But with children being made a part of what it described as a “symbolic protest”, the AAP government accused Congress of stooping to new levels.
