Cabinet fails to reach consensus on Amendment to Panchayat Raj Act
Bengaluru: The state Cabinet has failed to reach a consensus on bringing an amendment to the Panchayat Raj Act based on the recommendations of former Speaker Ramesh Kumar headed committee and the Cabinet sub-committee.
After the Cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister T.B. Jayachandra told reporters that the Cabinet decided to have a relook at the recommendations. The Ramesh Kumar committee has made 88 recommendations to bring transparency in the administration in panchayats. No minister is opposed to amendments to the Panchayat Raj Act in the coming session, the minister said. The government has given the nod to an amendment to Karnataka Civil Services Direct Rules. The Hoota committee recommendations will be incorporated for civil services direct recruitments. In the proposed amendments, for recruiting 'C' category employees, only marks scored in written test will be considered, Mr. Jayachandra said. For A and B category employees recruitments, in the written tests, negative marks will be given.
Rules relaxed

The relaxation will be applicable to only women applicants. The Cabinet also sanctioned '18 crore for construction of a judicial complex in Chikkaballapura district. For procuring agricultural equipment through e-tender under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the Cabinet has decided to sanction '20 crore.
