I want to play a villain: Sumanth Ashwin
Producer M.S. Raju has written the story and screenplay for his son Sumanth Ashwin’s film Columbus. Says Sumanth, “He had the story in mind for the last couple of years, but we were waiting for the right director and producer.”
“My character will do anything for the girl he loves. He is in jail from where he completes his engineering degree. The story is about why he is in jail and how he comes out,” says Sumanth about the film. “Many thought that this was a love triangle, but actually it is not. We have attempted a different kind of love story. Director R. Samala is a writer too, so he has done a good job.”
Sumanth says that he has only been approached for love stories till now because of his age. “Actually, I would like to do experimental films, and I want to play a villain too,” he says, adding, “I don’t want to get stuck in a particular image. I would like to play different characters.” Like all other actors, Sumanth, too, feels let down when his film fails at the box office.
“Yes, because I work hard and give my full attention when I work for a film. I don’t think about my friends, family or anything else while I’m working on a film. So when it fails, it hurts a lot. But it is only for some time. All this I put in my next film and I choose another good subject and divert my mind again into that film,” he says.
When asked about his father’s production house, which has been idle for the last few years, Sumanth says that he is planning to do a film under his home production. “But right now, I have signed a film titled Right Right, it’s a thriller,” Sumanth says.
