‘Pakoda’ Khader’s wife robbed

Neighbours rushed to the woman’s aid after she raised an alarm
Chennai: Two men on Monday night robbed the wife of late comedian, ‘Pakoda’ Khader under knifepoint at her residence in MGR Nagar. Posing as staff of the newly elected office bearers of the Nadigar Sangam, the duo conned the woman, K.Mumtaz and gained entry into her house at Ponmani Chemmal Street in MGR Nagar, police said.
“Initially, the woman did not let the duo inside the house. However, the two of them convinced that they are from Nadigar Sangam and gained entry,” a police officer said.
The duo reportedly told the home alone woman that they were sent by the Nadigar Sangam authorities to record grievances of families of veteran actors. The woman bought their bluff and let them in. As soon as they gained entry, they held the woman under knifepoint and forced her to remove her 5 sovereign gold chain. “They then locked her inside a room and fled the house,” an investigating officer said.
Neighbours rushed to the woman’s aid after she raised an alarm. Mumtaz filed a complaint with MGR Nagar police who have registered a case and are investigating. “The duo had made the interest generated around the Nadigar Sangam polls to their advantage. We have initiated investigations based on the description of them provided by the victim,” the officer added.
