Over Rs 10 crore has been allocated for state-wide Saddula Bathukamma arrangements

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has declared a holiday on the account of Saddula Bathukamma on Tuesday. The government has planned a gala event at Tank Bund where 30,000 women from across the state are expected to participate.
There are also several cultural programs lined up to highlight the significance of the state festival. Over Rs 10 crore has been allocated for state-wide Saddula Bathukamma arrangements.
The GHMC has deployed over 11 Bathukamma Action Teams (BAT) with 95 supervisors and 1060 workers. It has also mobilised 10,000 women sanitation and health department members.
The municipal body has carried out repairs at Bathukamma ghats, roads, installed temporary lighting along procession routes and other arrangements at important locations.
Temporary toilets have also been set up at important congregation points. The GHMC has spent over Rs 80.65 lakh only on lighting at all the water bodies. Over 100 hoarding have been places along the route greeting citizens on the occasion of the state festival.
The important tanks where Bathukamma will be celebrated are Hussain Sagar, Saroornagar tank, IDL tank, Hasmatpet tank, Pragathinagar tank, Sunnam Cheruvu, Gangaram Cheruvu, Durgam Cheruvu, Palle Cheruvu and Pedda Cheruvu.
The Chief Minister and Governor, along with Cabinet members and city MLAs will grace the occasion at Tank Bund. The Hyderabad traffic police has already announced alternative routes as the Tank Bund route will be closed for traffic.
