Maulana Azad National Urdu University professor for probe by panel

Prof. Bano said that the statement had aggravated her pain and she had lost trust in the PADASH Committee
Hyderabad: The provost of Maulana Azad Urdu University, Prof. Aziz Bano (HOD Persian department) has written to the State Women’s Commission requesting action and investigation into the case of “physical assault and sexual harassment by male students.”
In her letter, she noted that the chairperson of the PADASH Committee, meant for protection of female employees, had issued prejudiced statements to the media claiming that the students were innocent.
Prof. Bano said that the statement had aggravated her pain and she had lost trust in the PADASH Committee.
“The so called students physically assaulted, pushed me from my chair to the ground and kicked me and a few even tried to strangle me with my scarf. Why? Because I was a lady?” the professor asked.
Names of a few students have been mentioned in the complaint to the police while some students are yet to be identified.
“On Oct. 12, a large number of students gathered in groups in the campus and closed the main gate of MANUU. When I went to talk to the students to sort out their problems at the lecture hall complex at about 12:40 pm, I was physically assaulted by male students and they dragged, pushed, ghereoed (me),” she wrote in her letter.
“The Commission has been helpful. I have attached video clips showing students shouting at me using vulgar language, manhandling, pulling my clothes to them and also a video clip of PADASH giving statements to the media,” Prof. Bano said.
The Women’s Commission has accepted her complaint and has is seeking a report from the cops.
