Plant chlorophyll can kill cancer cells

A Chinese firm using plant chlorophyll, light combination to destroy cancer cells is set to foray into India
Chennai: Cho Group, a China headquartered company, specialising in treating cancers by using a combination of plant chlorophyll and light to destroy cancer cells, is set to foray into the Indian healthcare sector.
The Guangzhou-based Cho Group is awaiting Central government nod to establish centres, including in Chennai, and also collaborate with Indian companies. It specialises in Next Generation Photo Dynamic Therapy (NGPDT) – a sophisticated technique that is non-toxic and helps in precisely pinpointing cancer cells in the body and destroy them while leaving normal cells in the body intact.
“We have developed an advanced version of what is already there since 1920. This makes a big difference in successfully treating cancer patients in stage 4. We have treated the hardest of cases. This ground breaking cancer treatment is being used in 21 countries worldwide,” said Scott Waters, Director, Cho Group.
The company is registered in Hong Kong and the promoters are Chinese and Indians, Waters said while on a visit to the city.
“NGPDT responds to a variety of cancers like pancreas, renal carcinoma, breast cancers, lung, skin and even esophagus. We are expecting a clearance from Indian government to commence our operations. This will benefit numerous cancerpatients,” he added.
Radiation and chemotherapy may result in life threatening side effects while NGPDT offers a more effective treatment methodology. “This is safe as chlorophyll sourced from plants is non-toxic. This treatment makes significant contribution in medical sciences and we see vast scope in India,” said John Sudheer Pudhota, partner, Asia Pacific NGPDT.
