Srinu Vaitla and Kona may not work again?
While many are talking about director Srinu Vaitla and writer Kona Venkat coming back together after their collaboration in Bruce Lee, the film’s debacle has brought their differences out in the open.
Bruce Lee’s credits show “story by Kona Venkat” while Srinu Vaitla is credited for direction, screenplay and also for the “original story”.
While it’s a small matter for the audiences, it has become a big talking point in the industry. “When Srinu credited himself for ‘Original Story’ in Bruce Lee, he didn’t inform anyone and it was a big shock to Kona,” says a source.
Another interesting news is that the director has completely lifted the second half from a French film titled The Valet. He completely ignored the original script — that would have showed the brother-sister bond —and went off track.
“Kona was disappointed after the film released and expressed shock as the scenes were completely different,” says a source.
The writer was busy with his other film, Sankarabharanam, and the film’s other writer, Gopi Mohan, too, was busy with Balakrishna’s Dictator.
So Srinu took the liberty and changed the script. “Hence, Kona and Gopi told their friends that they didn’t want to work with Srinu again,” adds the source.
Kona, now, wants to show his skills in his upcoming film Sankarabharanam, where he has had a free hand to work on the script.
