Salim suggests Prem Ratan Dhan Payo cuts
It isn’t only Salman Khan who thinks Sooraj Barjatya needs to shorten Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP). His father, writer Salim Khan, who saw the movie last week, is supposedly of the same opinion.
Says a source, “Salim Saab is always consulted by all of Salman’s directors for his opinion after a film is completed. Sooraj Barjatya is no exception. He showed the film to Salim Saab, who loved it. But he suggested that the running time of nearly three hours was too much for today’s audience.”
Clearly there is a problem with the length of the new Salman release. In fact Salman had also requested Sooraj to cut down on the songs. Now with Salman’s dad joining in, Sooraj may not have much of a choice but to do some editing to bring down the film’s running time.
Inordinate lengths have always been a problem with Sooraj’s films. His directorial debut Maine Pyar Kiya was 3 hours 15 minutes long. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun was 3 hours 26 minutes and Hum Saath Saath Hain was nearly a whopping four hours long.
