Facebook is working to be more like YouTube
Recently, the big blue social networking site revealed its plans to make Facebook more video-heavy. It said that they are testing the new video experience for both, its mobile and desktop version.
Facebook is testing a number of new features that give users more flexibility when watching videos, whether on a News Feed on-the-go or sitting down to enjoy multiple videos back-to-back.
Suggested videos is one of the features Facebook has been testing on iPhones, making it easy to discover multiple related videos in a row after you tap on a video from News Feed. While it is still in the early days of testing, the initial results show that people who have suggested videos are discovering and watching more new videos.
Consequently, Facebook rolled out suggested videos to most people on iPhone globally, and are starting to test ads within the experience. It also plans to test the update on Android phones in the coming months.
In addition to that Facebook will allow users to multitask while they watch videos and save them to watch them later. To make this possible, it is testing a way for users to watch a video in a floating screen while simultaneously multitasking on Facebook.
Also, Facebook will be making a separate space for users to watch videos, whether they be the saved videos, or videos from their friend’s walls or from pages they follow.
